Comment: Spessartite garnet from the famous Tanzanian find of last century. Today depleted, these orange garnets are so unheard-of orange that they received the ultimate honor of any gem - their own name: 'Mandarine Garnet'. These gems are naturally silky and have a fuzzy inside, but this 5.00 is also moderately included and shows more yellow than others - hence it is very affordable. Giant face, no window, great color. If you can navigate, or even enjoy (as more and more people do), some visible but not ugly inclusions, this is a great buy. Setting it in appropriate metal (e.g. think hammered gold) will create a beautiful and everlasting eye-catcher.
