Comment: The classic Ceylon Rhodolite with that rich deep purple-red. Warning: Highly photogenic but take note of distance hand-shot under 'more images': this is 'Medium Dark 80', not a merry sparkler but a deep rose red, competing with Bordeaux red spinel and ruby rather than with pink sapphire or rubellite. Also, very different in character from the Tanzanian rhodolites we published last month. It needs at least some light to sparkle but never turns black. Inclusions only under the lens. Full face-up but no window. Untreated. Mix of shield and drop shape in a flawless hand-cut. Comes with all Wild Fish perks. Best-value bargain amongst untreated big red gems.
