Overall Grade: Good

Comment: Silvery silky Columbian emerald in bright light blue green with a semi-translucent crystal. One vivid green inclusion on the outer edge may be visible for young and sharp eyes (meaning I need a lens). Report card by IGI India attesting 'minor clarity enhancements', which translates to 'colorless oil only'. Close to the green inclusion a small chip has cost the lapidary some nerves, but we decided to leave it unrepaired. A re-cut would drop the gem far under one carat, yet a solid bezel setting would hide the chip and also the one visible inclusion: Two flaws killed with one setting (since we don't kill birds with stones anymore, right?). Re-cuts can't be undone, so we postponed the decision until a loving new owner is found: either re-cut to a perfect 0.5-0.7 carat or use a bezel to hide the rim and leave 8x6mm face-up. Like the rest of our Columbian emeralds their silky inclusions produce a shiny glowing luster.
