Comment: This star sapphire is from Thailand but nevertheless NOT diffusion. The main feature of this gem, perfect star and brown body aside, is the extra high dome on the top of which the star is ALWAYS visible even if it is condensed into a lengthy single starlet under multiple light sources. Hit with only one light ray, torch or single LED or the majestic sun herself, the star widens, and its six rays run down the gem's flanks in perfect harmony, length, symmetry, linear and sharp (far better than on image). The high dome invites designer creativity, either using it to get up high and fully visible from the side on top of a posh ring, or sinking it deeper into the band and still have a full star to show. The marron hue was graded as 'Dark 90' close to the maximum 100 but not quite there. The star is better than on all images, due to a sunny day and the resulting need to give it a strong single light-source which widens the rays and the center meeting point on camera. Yet, you can see the star is 100% centered (compare shadows and star, learn more here). Ask for better star images should you want to see them before trusting. Oh, and the rays are silver-white. Some stars exhibit different colored rays, like yellow, golden, silver or even greenish, no judgement but a Q of taste, and much to explore. The side-image shows you that though the gem is deep you do not pay extra for invisible weight in a bulging underbelly. What you see here is the minimum a goldsmith needs to grip the gem in a setting.
