Comment: After one-and-a-half decades of hunting for naturally colored topaz, here is our first true green topaz, ever. We do not claim that this is the legendary gem worn by the mother of Ivan, the Terrible, as she was poisoned in her bathtub filled with milk, no, this is only a recently mined Brazilian gem with the extremely rare and still undefined color-agents turning it green, bright but obvious. Natural light blue topaz, or even more so pink pieces, are rare, a 1:10.000 occurrence. Green topaz is beyond counting, a gemological aberration of 1:10^16. Surface-coated 'Mystic-Topaz' come in all and any colors including green but are not considered gemstones. Some of the rare lightly toned natural blue topaz display a 2nd green but this gem is primarily green, with some blue tints perhaps, though less than in the images. Like imperial topaz the crystal is tight and sharp, with a lively luster and an absolutely clean body. If your monitor shows too much blue, you may trust the IGI classification which does not even mention blue as a secondary color. In person, the cold bright green reminds of dense clean ice, arctic, extracted from the depth of an ancient iceberg. Local hand-cut without flaws if a slightly weak center though generously not qualifying as a window. Unless you are a fan of daring cocktail-designs this is a pendant size gem with the eye-catching abilities of a jewel worthy for a Russian aristocrat, minus the poisoning. WLT and NhRP donations, free global shipping, grading papers, 3rd party lab report and all WildFish extras are included in our prices. The dulling of hue and tone in the handshot below can be ignored while the true color is better observed in the close-ups.
